5 अगस्त 2019 कश्मीरियत के खत्म होने का आख़िरी दिन

मैं सिडनी में रह रही हूँ और जहाँ हूँ वहाँ ख़ुश हूँ।

कश्मीरी पंडित होने के नाते मेरा भी इस मामले में कुछ कहना है। मेरी अपनी राय है और उसे कहने का मेरा पूरा हक़ है।

कश्मीरी पंडित बेशक बहुत शांत और दयालु माने जाते हों लेकिन उनकी मतलबपरस्ती और घमंडीपन भी कम नहीं है।

कश्मीर में पंडितों की तादाद भले ही अल्पसंख्यक हो लेकिन शिक्षा के मामले में बहुसंख्यक हैं। सरकारी नौकरियों में महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर उनका कब्जा है। कश्मीरी पंडितों के बच्चों का बस तीन ही सपना होता है- डॉक्टर, इंजीनियर और बैंक (ज़्यादातर प्रोबेशनरी अफ़सर)

कश्मीरी पंडितों ने मुसलमानों को हमेशा दूसरे दर्जे का नागरिक माना है। दफ़्तरों में उनकी संख्या ज़्यादा होने के बावजूद अल्पसंख्यक पंडित उन पर अपनी हुकूमत चलाते हैं। कश्मीरी पंडित शेष भारत के लोगों का जिस तरह मजाक उड़ाते हैं वह अजीबोग़रीब है। हर तरह के लोगों की हैसियत तय करने का उनका अपना पैमाना है। चाहे वो डोगरा हों, दक्षिण भारतीय हों या सिख हों कश्मीरी पंडित उनका मजाक किसी न किसी बहाने उड़ाते रहते हैं जो सुनने में नस्लवादी फ़िकरे होते हैं। चूँकि पूरा जम्मू कश्मीर राज्य भारत और पाकिस्तान समर्थकों में बँटा हुआ है तो कश्मीरी पंडित मौक़ा पाते ही कह देते हैं- तो पाकिस्तान चले जाओ।

मैं किसी भी तरह के सशस्त्र संघर्ष का समर्थन नहीं करती लेकिन सोचती हूँ कि जो गालियाँ और अत्याचार हम दूसरों पर करते हैं वो हमेशा वापस लौटकर मिलता है।

मुझे ऐसा क्यों महसूस हो रहा है कि जो कश्मीरी पंडित आज डाँस कर रहे हैं उन्हें जल्द ही अपनी ग़लती का पछतावा होगा।

इतने वर्षों से हमारी अपनी ज़मीन पर हमारी अलग पहचान बनी हुई थी। लेकिन अब जब पूरे देश से यहाँ लोग जब आकर बसेंगे तो आप सब लोग दिल्ली की किसी कॉलोनी के हिस्से की तरह नज़र आएँगे। आपकी कोई अलग पहचान नहीं होगी। अब तुम्हें मुसलमानों से भी ज़्यादा ऐसी चीज़ें बर्दाश्त करना पड़ेंगी जो पक्का तुम्हारे लिए नाक़ाबिले बर्दाश्त होंगी।

कश्मीरी पंडितों की एक पूरी पीढ़ी घाटी के बाहर पैदा हुई और बड़ी हुई है जिनका सपना अपने वतन (कश्मीर) लौटना था, लेकिन अब की पीढ़ी शायद ही वतन लौटना चाहे।

धारा 370 और 35 ए भले ही भारत को कश्मीर (ज़मीन से ज़मीन) के क़रीब लाया हो लेकिन यह कश्मीरियत को मिटाने की क़ीमत के नाम पर किया गया है।

कश्मीरियत का मतलब ऐसे कश्मीरियों के अस्तित्व से है, जो विभिन्न धर्मों और समुदायों से हैं और जो एक दूसरे से नफ़रत किए बिना साथ साथ रहते हों। जब राज्य में कश्मीरियों की अलग तादाद ही बाहर से आने वाले बाकी लोगों के मुक़ाबले महत्वहीन हो जाएगी तो कश्मीरियत भी उसी के साथ खत्म हो जाएगी। एक केंद्र शासित कश्मीर में भले ही इन्फ़्रास्ट्रक्चर का जाल खड़ा हो जाएगा लेकिन कश्मीर की आबोहवा (पर्यावरण) बर्बाद हो जाएगा।

यहाँ विभिन्न समुदायों के लोग तो होंगे लेकिन यहां का अपना मूल कल्चर खत्म हो जाएगा। सफलता की लंबी सूची बन जाएगी लेकिन जिस बूते कश्मीर कश्मीरियत खड़ी थी वह खत्म हो जाएगी।

5 Aug 2019 will mark the end of "Kashmiriyat".

I am living in Sydney and I am very happy where I am.

Being a Kashmiri Pandit I have a say in the matter.

It will be a long rant from me but I guess I have an opinion and a right to express it. 
A lot of my community people will not like what I am about to write but so be it. With the death of Kashmiriyat dies my veil and I am going to say what I have witnessed growing up.

Kashmiri Pandits may be very docile people but their arrogance and selfishness is too much.

KPs always were a physical minority but educational majority. They were in studying and jobs and thus were holding almost all plum posts within the government jobs spectrum. There was a 3 point program for most KP kids.

1. Doctor
2. Engineer
3. Bank job (PO being favourite)

KPs always treated fellow Muslims as second grade citizens since being a physical majority they were governed by a minority in offices.

KPs also talked about rest of Indians with utter disdain.

They always had a term defining different sections of people.
Be it Dogras, South Indians, Sikhs KPs always made fun of them. Disgusting as it was it is utter racist as well. Since state was a divide of India and Pakistan supporters, KPs would at every possible chance utter "Gachh telyi Pakistan ( Then go to Pakistan)"

And when they went and came back with physical and mental ammunition, it was way beyond control. I don't endorse that but sometimes your abuse comes back to haunt you, it haunt us bad.

It brings me to the point why do I feel all KPs who are dancing today will soon regret.

All these years you had an existence as an entity in your own land since you were visible. Now with influx of people from all over the country you will be a part of a society like Delhi. You will have to tolerate more than Muslims now and you sure won't like it.

With a whole generation born and brought up outside valley the supposed dream of going back to homeland may not be a preposition our current generation would like. The abolition of article 370 and 35A may bring India to Kashmir (Land to Land) but at cost of Kashmiriyat.
Kashmiriyat meant existence of Kashmiris of different beliefs and faiths exist together without hate for each other. With Kashmiris outnumbered in valley kashmiriyat is dead. Kashmir as a UT may see rise in infrastructure but will degrade in environment.

Will add diversity but will lose its ethnicity. Will add to a lot of exciting stuff but will lose its edge. Will add to a list of successes but will lose the ground on which it was harnessed.
